Fatburger to beef up North Texas

October 26, 2010

According to an article in the Dallas Morning News, California-based Fatburger is in "advanced discussions" with a potential franchisee to build 10 Dallas-area locations in the next five years.

It would be the chain's first entry into the North Texas market.

The announcement also comes less than a month after California-based In-N-Out Burger said it would open up to eight locations and a distribution center in the region by late 2011.

From the story:

Restaurant executives looking to expand are drawn to North Texas' restaurant-going populace and an economy that held up well during the downturn.

Fatburger North America, which has about 80 locations in 12 states, hopes to announce development plans for "Dallas proper and the surrounding suburbs" before New Year's Day, said CEO Andy Wiederhorn.

Once a franchise group is selected, it will begin construction immediately, Wiederhorn said. "We think Texas is a great market for Fatburger."
