Is Fatburger rebranding as Skinnyburger?

Fatburger is reportedly changing its name to Skinnyburger, according to a press release from the brand's parent company, FAT Brands.

The timing is very close to April Fool's Day, so we're notcompletely convinced, but, apparently, the new name stems from its most popular menu item, the Skinnyburger. The burger is a low-carb, bunless, lean beef made with two patties with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, relish, pickles, onions, mustard and other fixings sandwiched in between the patties.

"We have long been considering this brand revamp to Skinnyburger and are excited for this first phase of our forthcoming store redesign and national roll-out," CEO Andy Wiederhorn, said in the release. "Skinnyburger will maintain the same iconic, great taste and experience of Fatburger with a slimmed down brand that we are thrilled to reintroduce to consumers nationwide.”

Should we believe him?

Starting today, fans can take a peek at the new look on the website, social media, and on delivery platforms including Postmates and UberEATS to experience the new twist on the LA-based chain.
