FAT Brands Inc. just got a little fatter.
The parent company of Fatburger announced Thursday that it had completed the acquisition of a 44-unit fast casual brand — Elevation Burger — for $10 million. Hans Hess founded Elevation Burger is 2002, as a healthier burger offering, serving sustainably prepared food and grass-fed, free-range options.
"Elevation Burger's slogan 'Ingredients Matter' aligns well with FAT Brands' commitment in providing guests with fresh, authentic, tasty food," FAT Brands CEO Andy Wiederhorn, said in a company press release. "We are thrilled to partner with the brand in this next chapter as they expand domestically and internationally and offer more consumers their organic, free-range, grass-fed offerings."
With the acquisition of Elevation Burger, FAT Brands now franchises more than 400 restaurants around the world with annual system-wide sales exceeding $400 million. Its other concepts include Buffalo's Cafe, Buffalo's Express, Hurricane Grill & Wings, Yalla Mediterranean and Ponderosa and Bonanza Steakhouses.
