Fast casual burger joints increasing Texas footprints

August 9, 2017

Texas is richer by two fast casual burger joints this month. Austin's Hopdoddy Burger Bar opens its first Fort Worth location Aug. 21, while Florida's BurgerFi opened its doors Monday in Arlington.

Hopdoddy — which is opening in the trendy Left Bank mixed-use development on West Seventh Street — will feature the chain's burgers made with a variety of freshly ground proteins like American grass-fed Kobe beef, sushi-grade tuna, turkey and bison, according to a company press release.

Alongside its burgers, Hopdoddy serves hand-cut Kennebec fries, salads, handcrafted milkshakes and also carries an array of local craft beers on tap, as well as in cans and bottles. The location also has a full bar featuring regional spirits, house-made liqueurs and freshly squeezed juices.

BurgerFi, 1807 North Collins St., Suite 101, is down the street from the AT&T Stadium in Arlington and will serve all-natural burgers with no steroids, antibiotics, growth hormones, chemicals or additives. In addition to using Angus beef that is humanely raised and farmed under sustainable practices, recipes are created from natural, fresh ingredients, according to a company press release.

The 2,700-square-foot restaurant has a seating capacity for 97 patrons inside the dining room and patio seating for 48. The space also features various eco-friendly elements including:

  • Picnic and four-top tables made from more than 700,000 up-cycled milk jugs.
  • Industrial-style chairs with select red chairs made of 111 up-cycled Coca-Cola bottles.
  • Wood panel walls made from the most renewable timber available — No. 2 southern pine lumber.
  • A 10-foot fan that consumes 88 percent less energy.
  • 100-percent recycled paper countertops.
  • And 00 percent energy-efficient LED lighting
