Everytable drops prices in lower-income areas

July 3, 2018

Everytable, a Los Angeles-based fast casual focused on healthful foods, is bringing low-cost options to low-income neighborhoods, according to CNBC. Investors including Elon Musk's brother, Kimbal Musk, Acumen and TOMS Social Enterprise are investing $5.3 million into Everytable to help the brand reduce prices in poorer areas.

Founded in 2015, the chain features five locations with a central kitchen that delivers to all locations daily.

Low-income neighborhoods will pay $5 for meals, whereas higher- income neighborhoods will pay $8, according to CNBC. To keep track of how the brand is doing, Everytable restaurants feature a digital kiosk where customers tap a smiley or frowny face based on their experience.

"There is an explosion of demand for healthy food across the country being met by some incredible fast casual brands like SweetGreen, DigIn and others,"  CEO Sam Polk  said in the article. "Those are healthy meals at twelve to fifteen bucks. But if your budget drops to a five to eight dollar price point, there are only two quasi-healthy players, Chipotle and Subway. They are like 90s definition of health."
