El Pollo Loco is celebrating a major milestone, announcing the opening of its 500th restaurant in the U.S. The location, which opens Friday in Colorado Springs, Colorado, marks a significant moment for the fire-grilled chicken chain during its 50th anniversary year, according to CEO Liz Williams
"Reaching 500 locations is a landmark achievement for El Pollo Loco, especially during our 50th anniversary year," Williams said in a press release. "It's a testament to the strength of our brand and delicious food, coupled with the passion and loyalty of our team members and guests."
The restaurant, at 825 E. Fillmore Street, is the company's third location in Colorado. It plans to open 10 locations in 2025, with most of them outside of its home state of California.
"Behind this milestone is one of the strongest development pipelines we've ever had," Tim Welsh, chief development officer, said in the release. He said restaurants are under construction in El Paso, Dallas, Albuquerque and the Seattle area.
To celebrate the opening and as part of its "Loco Friday Drops" program, the company is offering a two-piece chicken meal for $5 through its app on Friday, Oct. 17, for Loco Rewards members.
