Earl of Sandwich has opened its 28th restaurant, located in St. Petersburg, Fla., which features a new design developed to "execute an enhanced product volume," according to a news release.
The prototype restaurant, designed for franchise growth, implements a system that includes marketing, construction, finance, management and operations.
Earl of Sandwich spent the last year developing a new prototype restaurant that incorporates several key goals, including a new, modern store design called “Energized,” developed in collaboration with Tampa-based design and architecture firm API+. The store footprint is also designed to be flexible, allowing new franchises to move into 1,500-to-1,800-square-foot spaces. Working with Miami-based Profitality, Earl of Sandwich has incorporated several kitchen and equipment design changes to allow faster throughput speed, speed of service and labor efficiencies, the release said. This design also introduces a station that allows locations to execute a hot delivery platform called “Hot. Fast. Fresh.”
The company said the prototype can be built, outfitted and opened in a traditional suburban market for about $300,000.
Menu update includes new dinner program
Earl of Sandwich has also updated its menu and now offers salads, wraps and artisan soups. Breakfast has been expanded to include oatmeal, omelets and specialty coffee.
The brand has also developed a new dinner menu with pastas, pizza breads and stuffed baked potatoes.
In addition to the expanded menu options, a new delivery model termed “Hot, Fast. Fresh” has been tested and will be rolled out in most new stores. Delivery and full-line catering programs allow Earl of Sandwich to add multiple revenue channels to existing dayparts.
With the new prototype, Earl of Sandwich plans aggressive growth of both company-owned and franchise stores. The company recently signed a multi-store development deal with the Palma Group to develop in Qatar, has multi-store development deals for more casino locations and will continue developing airports and transportation locations with existing franchise partners. A franchisee has also been signed to develop in the Phoenix market and there are several area development deals in the works, the release said.
