Döner Haus launches US franchising program

February 14, 2025

New York City-based Döner Haus, a German-style Döner Kebab sandwich brand, is ready to hit markets across the U.S. via franchising.

Founded in 2023, the two-unit brand has received over 1,000 franchise inquiries and is opening its first franchise location this year in Bayside, Queens. It's also signed 20 California locations, said Nikolaus von Solodkoff, founder and CEO.

"We do not want our franchisees to buy themselves just another job," he said in a company press release. "We want them to build a career and grow with us. Our model makes entry more accessible while ensuring franchisees have the support they need to succeed."

Döner Kebabs is a $6 billion industry in Germany, and von Solodkoff said his team's tech-driven approach lends itself to an efficient way to expand in the U.S. Its first corporate location generated over $1.9 million in its first year.

Before launching franchising, the company established a strong supplier network to guarantee consistent, high-quality ingredients nationwide, von Solodkoff said. Due to its minimal seating requirements, Döner Haus keeps overhead low, allowing franchisees to operate in prime, high-traffic locations that traditional restaurants often can't sustain.

It offers a turnkey growth model with franchise fees at half the industry standard, making it easier for entrepreneurs to break into the market. The franchise package includes location assistance, staff training, branding and ongoing operational support, providing a cost-effective way to enter an entirely new street food category, von Solodkoff said.
