Dog Haus owner rolls out virtual wings, burger brands

The Absolute Brands, which owns Dog Haus and a variety of other concepts based in Pasadena, California, is adding wings and burgers to its offerings by creating two virtual brands. Jailbird and Big Belly Burgers join the company's other virtual concepts — Bad Mutha Clucka, Bad-Ass Breakfast Burritos and Plant B.

"Menu innovation has always been a mainstay at Dog Haus, and this key piece of our business continues to enable The Absolute Brands to thrive," Dog Haus Partner Hagop Giragossian said in a company press release. "The Absolute Brands have been huge for us so far. We have cultivated a strong culinary team eager to whip up more unique creations for guests, so we are excited to carry this momentum and introduce Jailbird and Big Belly Burgers to fans across the country.

Guests may order from any of the menus by searching for the brand's name on their favorite delivery apps.

Wings all around

The Absolute Brands isn't the first restaurant to add wings via a virtual concept.

Kentucky-based Fazoli's announced a similar move last week with its Wingvillle brand, and the Aventura, Florida-based casual dining brand, Smokey Bones, created The Wing Experience over a year ago. Virtual restaurant operator marketplace, Franklin Junction, also hatched its concept, WingDepo, last year in Atlanta.

In January of this year, Robert Earl, founder of Virtual Dining Concepts, opened the Wing Squad, a delivery-only restaurant serving customers in Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Columbus, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Indianapolis, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Palo Alto, Orlando, San Diego, Seattle and Washington D.C.

One month later, Dallas-based Consolidated Restaurant Operations, which owns 63 restaurants in the United States and United Arab Emirates, opened three virtual kitchens inside their Dallas-Fort Worth restaurants, including one focused on wings — Hashtag Wings.
