Dickey's Barbecue Restaurants Inc. today announced a partnership with Hope for the Brave, a North Texas organization focused on building awareness and facilitating collaborations in housing, health care, education and employment for veterans re-entering the community. Dickey's Barbecue will give 10 percent of all sales of local whole meats and holiday meals to Hope for the Brave during November and December, said Roland Dickey Jr., president and CEO of Dickey's Barbecue Restaurants Inc.
"Dickey's Barbecue was founded by my grandfather in 1941, after he returned from the trenches of World War I," he said. "Veterans and their service to our great country have always been a cause close to the hearts of the Dickey family. We're so proud to support Hope for the Brave."
In the next year, North Texas will welcome home 26,000 veterans and many will need assistance making the transition to civilian lives. Hope for the Brave provides a safety net for returning veterans by partnering with proven community organizations to facilitate support in multiple areas including housing, emergency life needs, employment solutions, and post-traumatic stress treatment, according to a company press release.
