Dallas-based Dickey's Barbecue Pit is broadening its barbecue horizons with the launch of a manufacturing and distribution plant, Wycliff Douglas Provisions, in Mesquite, Texas.

The 50,000-square-foot, USDA-inspected production facility's goal is to control the costs of goods for Dickey's franchisees, said Shayla Partusch, VP of purchasing and retail.

The facility offers multiple capabilities including sausage grinding, blending, stuffing, marinating, tumbling, smoking, slicing, shredding, and high-speed packaging. Additional facility benefits are its freezer capabilities and redistributing of frozen items to bring down freight costs.

"We are very excited about the launch of WD Provisions, our amazing manufacturing facility and the great cost savings it will offer our hardworking owner/operators who serve as the heart of the Dickey's brand," Partusch said in a company press release. "Additionally, WD Provisions will offer over 350 job opportunities to the great people of Mesquite, Texas, just east of Dallas."

WD Provisions will provide, sausage, chicken breast, pre-smoked chicken wings, chicken tender and multiple retail products for Dicky's locations.

The chain has over 700 global locations.
