Dickey's Barbecue Restaurants Inc. and its franchisee Finger Lickin' Brands have reached a settlement with Jan Harding, the Utah woman seriously injured when she ingested tea that had been mistakenly mixed with lye rather than sugar.
While terms of the settlement are confidential, a joint statement issued by the three parties indicated that the claims were resolved amicably and measures have been put in place to prevent similar incidents in the future.
"Ms. Harding was pleased to see that the company was able to demonstrate extensive changes which have been put in place to ensure that a similar accident doesn’t happen again. The parties emphasize that all of their interactions since the accident have been amicable, and they are both pleased that this matter was resolved without litigation," read the statement. "Everyone involved is grateful that Ms. Harding has made a good recovery since the accident."
