Dickey's extends retail line with Kroger, debuts in Canada

Dickey's Barbecue Pit is not only growing its restaurant footprint, opening its first Canadian store this week in Edmonton, but retailers are continuing to stock its retail line. The Texas-based chain's spices, Everything But the Bagel Rub & Rib Rub, are now available for purchase at 2,000 Kroger locations, for example.

"We are beyond thrilled our Everything But the Bagel & Rib Rubs are now widely available on Kroger shelves nationwide," said Roland Dickey Jr., CEO of Dickey's Capital Group, the parent company of Dickey's. "It's been incredible to witness our retail line's exponential growth since its initial launch in retail locations and Amazon in June 2021 and we look forward to seeing what's next!"

The spices are available in over 18 retail chains along with the brand's canned barbecue baked beans, barbecue sauce, short ribs and craft sausages and hot links.

Oh Canada!

Dickey's first Canadian location opens Friday and is under the direction of the husband-and-wife duo, Mohammed Hussain and Sadia Khan.

"We instantly fell in love with barbecue and more importantly the Dickey's brand," Mohammed Hussain said in the release. "We are excited to bring tasty, Texas-style barbecue to Edmontonians and the community we call home."

The unit seats 44 guests.

"There is a market for good barbecue in Edmonton with huge potential to open more locations in the region in the future," Jim Perkins, EVP of International Sales and Support at Dickey's Barbecue Pit, said in the release. "I couldn't be happier for Dickey's as well as welcoming these incredible Owner Operators to the team."

Dickey's Barbecue Restaurants has over 600 locations across the United States and eight other countries.
