Dickey's Barbecue is celebrating 69 years of being in business with the offering of $1 pulled pork sandwiches October 19 at every location across the country.
“Sixty nine years later, our business is as strong as it has ever been,” said Dickey's president Roland Dickey Jr.
In 1941, the Dickey family opened their first location in Dallas. Today, Dickey’s barbecue has 124 locations in 30 states. Additionally, they are expected to open 20 more locations before the end of 2010.
"In spite of our growth, we haven’t compromised our quality and our conviction about serving the best barbecue to our customers,” Dickey said. “That is really what we are celebrating this month—coming this far and still staying true to the principles my grandfather founded our company on."
With all the company's success, the Dickey family has decided to pay their good fortune forward with partnering with Children’s Cancer Research Fund. A portion of net proceeds from Dickey’s anniversary sales across America will be donated to find a cure for childhood cancer through CCRF.
During the day, representatives will be at the locations taking donations, informing customers about their cause, as well as giving away Delta Airline tickets.
