Dickey’s Barbecue Pit is modifying its menu for the first time in 50 years by adding a new permanent signature meat, the Spicy Cheddar Sausage.
“Our Spicy Cheddar Sausage is packed with heat, but it has just enough kick to complement the rich cheddar. It is a mixture that just can’t go wrong and I’m thrilled that it’s now a permanent option on the menu,” said Dickey’s corporate chef Tyler Riddle.
The item was originally created as a limited-time option, and debuted nationwide in February. The last time Dickey’s added a signature meat to their menu was in 1952.
The company also announced its expansion with a new store opening in Draper, Utah.
This is the first Dickey's franchise opportunity for Draper. The restaurant also joins two other locations currently operating in Utah.
"The Dickey's presence in Utah is growing steadily. We are very excited to have this new opportunity," said Dickey's president Roland Dickey Jr. "As our company grows, we grow as a family. This is another great opportunity for the company."
Texas-based Dickey's Barbecue Pit opened in 1941 and began franchising in 1994. Since early 2011, Dickey's has opened 12 stores nationwide and 60 are set to open before the end of 2011. There are 147 locations in 33 states.
"We have so many new owner/operators who are investing with us. With this economy, we are glad people trust us for success and we certainly don't take that for granted. Their victory is our victory and we don't plan on going anywhere but up," Dickey said.
