Culver's co-founder passes away

October 5, 2008

PRAIRIE DU SAC, Wis. — Ruth Culver, co-founder of the Culver's Restaurants concept, died Oct. 2 at age 84.

Recognized as the heart of the franchise, Culver is credited with creating the service culture present in all 386 Culver's restaurants while her husband, George, made sure each product was made with quality ingredients and cooked exactly to order.

"Everyone in the Culver's family of restaurants feels a very deep sense of loss," said Phil Keiser, president and COO of Culver's Restaurants. "Ruth's commitment to hospitality is something that will live on throughout our organization forever."

Ruth Culver's years of generosity led the company to create the "Ruth Award" in her honor in 2001. One of the company's most prestigious distinctions, the "Ruth Award" recognizes Culver's franchise partners for going above and beyond to show Culver's hospitality at its finest.

Culver is survived by the other co-founders of the chain: husband George, son Craig and his wife, Lea.
