Creamistry, a California-based chain that specializes in made-to-order liquid nitrogen ice cream using all-natural and organic ingredients with more than 60 flavors and toppings, is opening next month in Friendswood, Texas, according to a company press release. Located at 211 W Eldorado Blvd., it will be owned and operated by Salim Qadri, who plans to open at least two locations total in the area over the next two years.
"I am excited to bring Creamistry to Friendswood," Qadri said in the release. "The brand has achieved so much recognition already throughout the Houston area. Creamistry is far more than just an ice cream shop — it truly is an experience. With Creamistry’s natural and organic choices, remarkable atmosphere and exceptional concept, I know the Friendswood community will love it as well."
Creamistry was founded in 2013, after founder Jay Yim was first introduced to liquid nitrogen ice cream when he spotted a street vendor making it during a trip to South Korea in 2003. Born into a family of Korean bakers, Yim and his wife, Katie, made their first homemade ice cream using liquid nitrogen with the help of his father as the quality control "chemist." Over the next two years, the team experimented with over a hundred flavors and combinations, the best of which eventually became an integral part of Creamistry’s menu today, according to the release.
"As we continue to expand our presence in Houston and other parts of Texas, it’s crucial to find the right franchise partners who are deeply passionate about the brand and are excited to promote the Creamistry culture," Yim said in the release. "We couldn’t be more excited about this partnership. Salim is a hardworking individual with whom we share the same values. He will play an instrumental role in further establishing our brand in the local marketplace."
