Dallas-based Cowboy Chicken has enhanced its mobile app, which first made its debut in 2017. The update includes a new design as well as a loyalty program with four tiers, favorite-location support and receipt-scanning, Sean Kennedy, president and CEO of Cowboy Chicken, said in a company press release.

"When we designed the new Cowboy Chicken app, we wanted our guests to be able to earn better rewards with the dollars they spend," he said. "As our app users reach new loyalty status levels, they unlock more and more exclusive rewards, such as a $5 reward on the second visit at the Cowboy level, a free bottle of hot sauce when reaching 500 points at the Sheriff level and a free turkey and $5 at 2,000 points for Cattle Barons."

LevelUp, a Boston-based mobile engagement solutions company and creator of the original Cowboy Chicken app, was behind the upgrades, which also include an updated order-ahead screen that offers Apple Pay, an improved delivery address user experience, a pending order alert, tutorial screens and an in-app FAQ.

Additionally, the app enables guests to toggle between QR codes to pay and earn rewards and add multiple credit cards.

Founded in Dallas in 1981, Cowboy Chicken has nearly 30 units.
