Cousins Subs buys 6 units from franchisee

Six Cousins Subs in Brookfield, New Berlin, Pewaukee and Waukesha, Wisconsin, are now company-owned thanks to franchise partners Jim and Leah Valentine selling them back to the company.

With the acquisition, Cousins Subs has added 134 store-level employees and two corporate positions.

"This is our largest acquisition to date and we're very excited," Jason Westhoff, president at Cousins Subs, said in a company press release. "However, it's also bittersweet. The Valentines were our first, and some of our best, franchisees and we are sad to lose them. We thank them for their many years with the brand and wish them the best."

As part of Cousins Subs' systemwide rebranding initiative, the Brookfield restaurant was remodeled in October 2021 to incorporate the brand's Milwaukee Sub Shop look featuring natural wood, stone and metal accents. The decor also includes an updated logo and digital menu boards
