Cousin's CFO takes on president's role

Cousins Subs President and CEO Christine Specht has opted to narrow her role to that of CEO only, this week appointing the company's CFO Jason Westhoff to the president's role, a news release said. Specht began transitioning from the dual role at the start of this year after the brand expanded into the Chicago area and before it continues Midwest expansion. 

As CEO, Specht remains focused on culture, growth and business strategy, while Westhoff will work to implement Specht's visions for the brand, direct the leadership team, make daily business decisions, create systems for the chain and lead teams to meet core objectives.

"As we prepare for broader Midwest expansion, it is imperative that Cousins' leadership team is in an optimum position to execute strategy, and growth takes a team with varying focuses and skill sets," Specht said in the release. "We are in a time of change, and I believe that to drive brand success and meet objectives, we need the right people in positions to not only carry out the vision but be the driving force behind change. There is no better candidate to take the wheel than Westhoff whose capabilities to 'see beyond the numbers' are proven."

Westhoff joined Cousins Subs nearly seven years ago as CFO, focusing on growth strategy through organic and inorganic channels.  

"My previous role as CFO allowed me to build financial plans that incorporate all aspects of the business, which has equipped me with the skill set to integrate all functions into executable plans," Westhoff said. "More importantly, my time with Cousins has taught me the importance of communicating effectively with all members of our system so together we can meet the needs of our guests."

In addition to the current leadership team including Vice President of Development Joe Ferguson and Vice President of Marketing Justin McCoy, the brand has added Vice President of Finance J.J. Grube and Senior Director of Operations and Talent Alan Lundeen.
