Cosi opens in Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa entrepreneur Jim Wilburn opened the state's first Cosi location in Tulsa July 10.

"We think that there's an unfilled demand for upscale fast-casual dining options in Tulsa, and Cosi fits perfectly into that niche," Wilburn said. "The quality of Cosi's food and environment embodies the philosophy expressed in our tagline: Simply Good Taste."

Wilburn tapped Tulsa restaurateurs John and Susan Molinar to head up the Cosi management operations team in Oklahoma. John Molinar said the company eventually will open eight to 10 Cosi locations in Oklahoma —four to five each in Tulsa and Oklahoma City.

In Tulsa, Cosi has partnered with a co-op gallery of local artists — Color Connection Gallery in Utica Square — to create the Cosi Collection. All artwork will be displayed and sold at Tulsa restaurant locations with a portion of each sale donated to Cosi's local partner charity, The Children's Hospital Foundation at Saint Francis.
