Corner Bakery signs first franchise partner

May 28, 2007

DALLAS — Corner Bakery Cafe announced it has signed The Rose Group as CBC Restaurant Corp.'s first new franchise partner.

The Rose Group plans to add approximately 25 new Corner Bakery Cafe's in the Philadelphia and South Jersey markets in the coming years, and has experience with a roaster of chainsincluding Boston Market, Einstein Bros Bagels, Johnny Carino's Country Italian Restaurants and Roy Rogers.

Last October, CBC Restaurant Corp. launched a strategic franchise development program led by industry veteran P.J. Evans. The program was designed to attract potential franchise partners who have relevant multi-unit restaurant experience and $3 million in non-borrowed cash available. Other criteria for evaluation include a net worth of more than $7.5 million, strong existing infrastructures and real estate expertise in the market to be developed. Equally important to CBC Restaurant Corp. is the desire to affiliate with potential franchise groups that have received recognition as 'best in class' and 'employer of choice' within their current system.

Founded in 1985 by Mr. Harry T. Rose, The Rose Group is the 39th largest franchise organization in the United States and currently owns and operates 54 Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar units in eastern Pennsylvania, Baltimore and New Jersey. Within the past 12 months alone, it has opened seven new Applebee's locations and hired over 700 new employees.
