Corner Bakery signs 12-unit expansion deal

Corner Bakery Café has signed a deal with Riverside, Calif.-based restaurateur Rodney Couch to develop 12 locations in the California counties of Riverside and San Bernardino.
Couch is the founder and president of Market Broiler restaurants and Preferred Hospitality Inc. He plans to open his first Corner Bakery Café next year.
According to astory in Riverside's The Press-Enterprise, Couch's Preferred Hospitality Inc. manages five Market Broiler restaurant locations and catering company Provider Contract Food Service.

Couch said he plans to look for locations with 3,000 to 3,500 square feet of space with dense daytime lunch populations nearby.So far, the search for locations has been more challenging than he expected, with restaurant tenants and landlords holding onto spaces, he said.
