Coolgreens, which reported an 11.4% increase in 2019 year-over-year sales increased, is carrying that growth momentum into 2020 with major expansion plans and a goal to double off-premise sales.

"We opened new locations outside our home market for the first time, and we will continue that growth with new locations in Dallas-Fort Worth and Omaha in early 2020," CEO Robert Lee said in a company press release.

In addition to franchise development, the chain added tamper-proof packaging, a mobile app and a training and onboarding program. It's also in the final stages of a new prototype design, which will help guests move more easily through line and features a ventless cooking equipment package and several other tools that reduce labor costs while increasing speed during peak times, Lee said.  Additionally, the brand will test kiosk ordering in Oklahoma City locations and add a dedicated second line for online and to-go orders.

What's coming up?
Operationally in 2020, President Todd Madlener and VP of of Operations Amanda Powell are behind the goal of increasing the brand's off-premise sales by 100%.

"Amanda's team, along with our franchisees, have been working together over the last quarter to enhance our off premise and catering offerings by providing guests with an expanded menu that is aligned with our values and nutritional standards," Madlener said in the release.

Going to market
The chain is also launching a franchising opportunity with its Coolgreens Market, a smart refrigerator that serves salads, wraps, grain bowls, snacks and beverages. Coolgreens is choosing locations in the DFW area for the first round of Coolgreens Markets and is working with potential franchise groups in other large cities in the country to fuel growth.

"We have set high expectations for 2020," Lee said. "We will remain focused on providing the best environment for our team members and guests. I believe in our team, and I know we will succeed in creating those ‘more than' experiences throughout 2020 and beyond."

Founded in 2009, Coolgreens has nine locations throughout Oklahoma City, Tulsa and Dallas-Fort Worth.
