Coney Island Hot Weiner Shop inks first franchise agreements

Tulsa, Oklahoma's 93-year old Coney Island Hot Weiner Shop has signed its first franchise agreements, which could lead to up to 80 locations across Houston and Austin, Texas, according to a company press release.

"The potential of our historic brand in Texas is unreal and surreal to be franchising finally after 93 years of our business operating. We are beyond excited," said Vicki Economou, managing member of CVE, LLC, parent company of Coney Island Hot Weiner Shop.

The first locations to launch in South Texas will open in the summer of 2018, and will be freestanding pad sites with drive-thrus and digital menu boards with Apple iPad-based POS systems, according to the release.

Greek immigrant Christ Economou founded the concept in 1926 in Tulsa.
