Chipotle Mexican Grill is extending its latest menu addition, carne asada, through the end of the year and into the first quarter of 2020. Originally introduced in September as a limited-time offer, the premium cut of steak seasoned with lime, cilantro and a blend of spices, has been more popular with customers than expected, CEO Brian Niccol said in a company press release.
"We're incredibly encouraged by the customer response to Carne Asada and are exploring options to add this as a permanent menu item in the future," he said. "Our mission is to cultivate a better world and we're committed to doing so responsibly with our people, farms, animals and the environment in mind."
Chipotle has over 2,500 restaurants in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., France and Germany.
