Chipotle launching Red Chimichurri sauce

Chipotle Mexican Grill is adding a new sauce to its menu, a limited-time offering called Red Chimichurri.

The tangy sauce, which is prepared fresh in each restaurant daily, will be available starting Tuesday at Chipotle locations in the U.S. and Canada.

Red Chimichurri, made with roasted garlic, fresh cilantro, chili peppers and citrus juice, was designed to pair with the chain's Carne Asada. It will be served on the side, allowing customers to add it to any entree.

According to a study by Rubix Foods, 92% of Gen Z consumers said they would visit a restaurant just for a sauce.

"Red Chimichurri unlocks an all-new flavor profile that is unlike any menu item we introduced before," Chris Brandt, Chipotle's chief brand officer, said in a company press release. "This is more than a new sauce — it's a new way for our fans to get creative and build the ultimate flavor combination."

To celebrate the launch, Chipotle Rewards members who were enrolled by Monday will receive a free offer for the sauce on Tuesday.

The sauce arrives as Chipotle recently brought back its popular Carne Asada, which was the second-most searched limited-time offering among all national restaurant brands in 2024. The protein is marinated and seasoned with a blend of cumin, coriander, garlic and oregano.
