Chipotle Mexican Grill is rolling out a "Supergreens" salad mix with romaine, baby kale and baby spinach, which will replace the existing romaine-only salad base, according to a company press release.
"At Chipotle, we are always looking for ways to innovate the existing menu offering," Nevielle Panthaky, VP of culinary at Chipotle, said in the release. "Lifestyle Bowls allow us to preconfigure our real ingredients, including the new Supergreens salad blend, in a way that helps our guests reach or maintain their health and wellness goals."
This is Chipotle's second new menu item added in the last four months, following the launch of Carne Asada in September 2019. Chipotle has also made its grilled Adobo chicken compliant with Whole30 by switching the oil in its marinade, keeping the same taste, but providing guests with specific dietary goals more options.
"The new year is a popular time for people to participate in Whole30, so we're excited that Chipotle's Lifestyle Bowls continue to take the stress out of healthy eating on-the-go," Melissa Hartwig Urban, Whole30 co-founder, said in the release. "Convenience is key to staying on track, so I worked closely with the culinary team at Chipotle to create three compliant bowls for the Whole30 community.
Chipotle added preconfigured, diet-driven Lifestyle Bowls last year, which helped its digital sales growth hit a $1 billion milestone recently. The chain is expanding and innovating its Lifestyle Bowls and offering free delivery for the entire month of January when customers purchase a bowl via the Chipotle app or Chipotle.com.
