Chipotle Mexican Grill is bringing back chicken al pastor for a limited time, marking the first move in an aggressive 2026 menu strategy that will see the chain double its usual pace of product launches.
The fan-favorite protein, which features adobo, morita peppers and pineapple, will return to restaurants in the U.S., Canada, U.K., France and Germany on Feb. 10. Chipotle Rewards members will receive early access via the brand's app on Feb. 9.
The launch signals a shift in Chipotle's operational cadence. While the company has historically introduced two limited-time protein offerings per year, executives plan to launch three to four proteins in 2026, alongside new sides and dips.
"Chicken al Pastor built a passionate following, so we had to bring it back for our fans," Stephanie Perdue, Chipotle's interim chief marketing officer, said in a company press release. "We've seen thousands of comments asking for its return because the unique, bold flavor goes perfectly with their favorite Chipotle order."
The decision to accelerate innovation comes as the company looks to drive transaction growth following a challenging 2025. In recent financial filings, Chipotle said the new menu items are a primary driver for increasing guest frequency and spending.
"Our team is focused on delivering new flavor experiences that are delicious, on-trend, and operationally consistent," Nevielle Panthaky, vice president of culinary, said in the release. "Chicken al Pastor's comeback is a preview of what's in store this year."
To support the launch, Chipotle is offering a $0 delivery fee on all chicken al pastor orders placed through its official digital channels from Feb. 14 through Feb. 28.
The announcement follows a series of major milestones for the Newport Beach-based chain, which recently opened its 4,000th location in Manhattan, Kansas.
Chipotle remains the only restaurant company of its size to own and operate all its locations in North America and Europe.
