Chipotle is accepting digital currency payments through Flexa, allowing customers to spend their bitcoin and other digital currencies from any Flexa-enabled app for burritos, bowls and more.

"We are constantly exploring innovation that will enhance our guest experience, and that includes now accepting digital currency payments with Flexa in Chipotle's U.S. restaurants," Chipotle CTO Curt Garner told FastCasual in an email.

How it works

Customers open a Flexa-enabled app and tap "Chipotle" to spend digital currency at any restaurant instantly with a single scan. Flexa processes payment in under one second, and balances the carbon emissions of all of its blockchain and operating activities with high-quality, verified carbon offsets to maintain a carbon-negative network

To celebrate the launch, customers will receive 10% off their next purchase at Chipotle when using any digital currency in a Flexa-enabled app. To obtain Flexa, customers can download the Gemini or SPEDN app
