Chi’Lantro BBQ opening 9th unit

Chi'Lantro BBQ is opening its ninth location by month's end in South Austin on the corner of Brodie and Slaughter Lane inside the Shady Hollow Village Shopping Center, according to a company press release. The restaurant's menu will feature customizable rice bowls, salads, ssäms, The Original Kimchi Fries; Korean fried chicken wings and Aguas Frescas.

"As we were celebrating our 10th year anniversary in 2020, for a brief moment, our future became uncertain due to Coronavirus. Fast forward to today," Founder Jae Kim said in the release. "I'm truly thankful to our customers in Austin for their continued support and love. They are providing us with an opportunity to open our 9th location and to open our 10th restaurant by the end of 2022. Our customers are awesome."

Kim started Chi'Lantro BBQ as a food truck in 2010 in Austin by maxing out his credit cards and emptying out his savings to pursue his dream of running a Korean Mexican fusion food truck business. He now has eight brick-and-mortar locations with three opening by the end of 2022.
