Although overall restaurant sales have stalled over the past year, many brands are still experiencing growth. Below are just a few companies that have announced openings this week.
Chicken Salad Chick
Chicken Salad Chick is expanding in Louisiana with a location opening May 16 in Shreveport at 6537 Youree Dr., and another opening the following day in Mandeville, which is in the New Orleans market. Located at 3803 Highway 22, the NOLA unit is under the direction of franchisees, Jake Alleman, Cody Gielen and John Gielen of Cojak Restaurant Group, according to a press release.
Brother and sister Ray Pynes and Lacy Pynes Galligan own the Shreveport unit.
"As Louisiana natives, we're excited to bring Chicken Salad Chick's great food, hospitable service and amazing story to the Shreveport market," said Ray Pynes, in the release. "We've had our eye on a few different restaurant concepts but after visiting the Lafayette location, we instantly knew that Chicken Salad Chick was the type of brand we wanted to be a part of. The local community in Shreveport is attracted to unique concepts and Chicken Salad Chick fits that description perfectly. We're confident the brand will resonate with local consumers and hope to open an additional location in the future."
Zoup
Norwood, Ohio, is home to its first Zoup this week. The new restaurant, at 4426 Montgomery Road, Ste. A, near the campus of Xavier University, is number 26 to open in the state.

Located at 416 Market Square, the restaurant will celebrate its grand opening with the Maysville-Mason County Chamber of Commerce at a ribbon cutting ceremony at 4:30 p.m., on May 15 and will open to the public the following day, according to a press release.
"When we opened in Morehead three years ago, the local community really embraced our fresh, high-quality menu offerings and friendly, casual atmosphere," said Franchisee Dan Markwell, in the release. "There is a need for quick, affordable Italian food that tastes great, and we are thrilled to be bringing that to the Maysville area and continuing our successful business venture with this brand."

Pie Five
Pie Five Pizza Co. is opening its second Baltimore-Washington International airport unit Friday, according to a press release
"Pie Five has already proven to be a great fit for BWI airport," said Altaf Isani, president of Creative Food Group, which owns the unit and has been operating restaurants in airports since 2004 and at BWI since 2012.
Pie Five's state-of-the-art Turbo Chef oven doesn't require a hood, allowing it to be used in a variety of non-traditional locations such as airports. The oven's heat, airflow and belt speed can also be adjusted to produce the perfect pizza, cheesy Breadstix or a freshly baked turtle brownie, said Pie Five CEO Scott Crane.
"Our new Pie Five is located in the highest traffic concourse in BWI, which will really give us the opportunity to highlight our speed-of-service while handcrafting custom artisan pizzas," said Crane in the release. "This is the second of many airport locations to come for Pie Five and we’re excited to bring the future of pizza to another BWI location."
This is the eighth Pie Five Pizza location in the Baltimore area.
