Chef JJ Johnson previewed a fast casual grain concept at the Chef's Club Counter and has since signed a lease on a Harlem location, according to New York Eater.
Johnson has worked for Minton's Playhouse and Bar, located on the first floor of the Cecil hotel in New York,
He has chosen Field Trip as the concept's unofficial name and plans to serve rice and barley bowls.
"It's an affordable restaurant that people in the neighborhood can eat at every day," said Johnson, who earned one star from Times critic Pete Wells during his time at Minton's.
