Checkers & Rally's taps former Boston Market leader as CEO

Tampa, Florida-based Checkers & Rally's has named former Boston Market CEO Frances Allen as its CEO and board member, effective today. She succeeds Rick Silva, who a news releases said, opted to leave the company after 13 years as president and CEO.

At Boston Market, Allen implemented a transformation plan that was designed to ready the brand for future growth, the release said. Prior to that position, she was president at Jack-in-the-Box from 2014 to 2018, where she held strategic and operational responsibility for the 2,200-unit hamburger QSR. 

Allen has also served as chief brand officer and CMO at Denny's Corporation and CMO at Dunkin' when it was formerly Dunkin' Donuts USA. 

"We are delighted that Frances will be leading Checkers & Rally's through its next leg of growth," Kevin Mailender, board member and partner of the restaurants' parent company, Oak Hill Capital, said in the release. "She is an accomplished leader in the restaurant industry. Her wealth of experience with leading brands and impressive set of skills will be highly valuable to our business and its outstanding franchisees. 

He also thanked Silva for his years of leadership and credited him with "positioning the system for long-term success." 

For her part, Allen said she's ready to hit the ground running. 

"There is much work to do, but I am eager to build on the company's recent momentum and set out on this exciting journey alongside Checkers & Rally's passionate employees and talented franchisees," she said in the release. 

The 30-year-old brand has nearly 900 restaurants systemwide.
