Cheba Hut, a "toasted" sub shop, has launched a mobile app and loyalty platform in partnership with Thanx. The app, which includes a rewards program called "Munchie Mob Rewards," is designed to streamline ordering and deepen customer engagement.
The platform links to a customer's credit or debit card, automatically tracking purchases and awarding 10 "Coin" for every dollar spent. This card-linked system eliminates the need for users to scan codes or provide phone numbers at checkout. New members receive 420 Coin upon signing up.
"It's clear our homies wanted a simpler, cooler system, and now they're all in," Adam Porter, senior director of marketing at Cheba Hut, said in a company press release. "This launch proves reward apps don't have to be boring—we made ours fun, fast and not stingy with the stash."
The app's launch is part of a larger brand refresh that introduces a cast of monster characters called "The Munchies," who serve as the face of the "Tame the Munchies" campaign. Each character has a unique personality that adds to the brand's counterculture identity.
Since the app's release, the company has seen loyalty transactions more than double and new signups increase sixfold compared to its previous rewards program.
"For guests, it's one link and done. For our crews, it removes the scanning headaches at the counter. And for our brand, it delivers the kind of accurate, reliable data that fuels smarter growth," Porter said.
The app and web ordering system are powered by Olo and support Apple Pay and Google Pay. Cheba Hut, founded in 1998, has gained recognition for its marijuana-themed concept, full-service bars and unique sandwiches. The company was recently ranked No. 2 on Fast Casual's list of the Top 100 Movers & Shakers.
