Charlotte-based franchise operation, Southern Deli Holdings LLC, which currently operates 50 McAlister's Deli restaurants across the country, announced recently that it is entering into a multiyear sponsorship with the Charlotte Hornets. McAlister's Deli has been named the "Official Tea of the Hornets."
"It goes without saying that the Hornets' return to Charlotte has created noteworthy excitement within the city," said SD Holdings CEO Yaron Goldman, in a company press release. "We are both excited and humbled to begin what we hope is a lasting relationship with an organization that plays such a large role in making Charlotte the city that it is."
SD Holdings' 17 McAlister's Deli stores in the Charlotte area will offer Hornets' souvenirs and kids in-store activities, and employees and store décor will feature Hornets purple and teal. McAlister's sweet tea and a small selection of sandwiches, salads and spuds will be sold at the Time Warner Cable Arena where the Hornets play.
"We are particularly excited to be selling McAlister's Famous Sweet Tea inside of Time Warner Cable Arena," said Goldman. "This is huge considering the crowd this venue attracts and we look forward to turning Hornets fans into sweet tea fans."
