Chaia, a fast casual brand with a mission to "get people to eat more vegetables," will open in Bethesda, Maryland on Tuesday, according to a company press release.
Located at 7237 Woodmont Ave., the restaurant is next to Landmark's Bethesda Row Cinema and will be open Tuesday to Saturday, 11 a.m. - 8 p.m.; Sunday, 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.; closed Monday.
Along with "plant-forward" tacos and other street-food-inspired items, the Bethesda restaurant features Chaia's first kids' menu, which includes Rainbow Rice & Beans, Melty Quesadillas, Loaded Sweet Potato Nachos, and Tin-Foil Kale & Cherry Tomatoes.
The restaurant, which offers take-out, seats 20 indoors and 12 across its outdoor patio, and includes a "taco window" for low-contact ordering and pick up.
Driven to build a better food system, friends Suzanne Simon and Bettina Stern founded Chaia to share food they love to cook for their family and friends with the larger community. Inspired by their work as food writers and educators, their love of Mexican cooking and their roots, Chaia's "farm to taco" is a relationship between farmers and urban street-style food. Chaia has opened in Georgetown, Chinatown, and Bethesda.
