Washington D.C.-based Cava has launched its largest menu expansion to date, headlined by the return of white sweet potatoes following a persistent years-long social media campaign by the Mediterranean chain's fans.
The 2026 winter menu, which debuted Monday, introduces several permanent staples and seasonal items designed to emphasize high-protein and vegetable-forward options.
The return of the white sweet potato marks the end of a hiatus that began after the item's initial 2021 seasonal run. Ted Xenohristos, Cava co-founder and chief concept officer, personally notified some of the brand's most vocal social media followers of the return via video calls.
"We're excited to start the year with flavors that not only pair beautifully together but also make it easy to eat well with more protein and veggies," Xenohristos said in a press release.
The update features two curated entrees:
The expansion also introduces a base of butter lettuce, kale and spinach called Power Greens, alongside a Sumac Slaw and a seasonal Tangerine Aleppo beverage. For a limited time, the chain is offering Sumac Sour Cream and Onion Pita Chips.
The company plans to release limited-edition apparel later this month to commemorate the fan-driven return of the sweet potatoes.
The menu is available at all locations nationwide for in-restaurant dining and digital ordering.
