Captain D's takes on Baton Rouge

June 5, 2017

Captain D's has opened a location in Zachary, Louisiana, at 5353 Main St. The 2,800-square-foot restaurant has a drive-thru and showcases the brand's most recent beach design, according to a company press release. Nearly 60 percent of all the brand's units reflect the redesign; another 50 locations will be remodeled by the end of this year.

Marking the brand's first location in the Baton Rouge area, the Zachary restaurant is corporately owned and kicks off the brand's development plans for the region. It has two locations under construction in Baton Rouge and Denham Springs, as well as an additional location in Hammond that is slated to open in the fall.

"At Captain D's, we invest our company capital in new company stores, precisely like our franchisees invest their capital in new locations. Fueled by the strength of our business model, our expansion in Louisiana is a direct reflection of our brand's compounding success and unlimited potential," Michael Arrowsmith, chief development officer for Captain D's, said in the release. "Over the course of this year, we'll be opening new restaurants throughout the region as we continue growing Captain D's presence in Louisiana."

Captain D's ended 2016 by achieving its sixth consecutive year of same-store sales increases and fourth successive year of record high system-wide AUV, Arrowsmith said. In addition to its corporate growth in Louisiana, Captain D's has signed franchise agreements to open an additional 25 restaurants this year.

The brand has 516 restaurants in 21 states.
