Captain D's has signed two franchise development deals with experienced multi-unit operators to launch its first south Florida locations and expand in North Carolina.
The fast casual seafood franchise has inked a deal with new franchisee, Josh Royal, president of Harborside Holdings Corp., to open its initial three locations in south Florida, including Belle Glade, Riviera Beach and Lehigh Acres. The first store will open in late 2019, according to a press release.
"This surge in franchise development is a reflection of the brand's aggressive growth strategy and is fueled by the ongoing success Captain D's has experienced over the past several years. This success coupled with the rollout of a new royalty incentive program earlier this year has continued to attract experienced multi-unit operators interested in joining the growing brand,” stated the release.
Royal and his family operate 10 Popeyes units throughout the south Florida market and have previously owned Burger King franchises.
"Captain D's unparalleled support system and outstanding corporate team made it the obvious choice for us when we decided it was time to diversify our portfolio," said Royal in the release.
Captain D's also signed a development agreement with NFL retiree, Donnell Thompson, who will open a location in Fayetteville, North Carolina in late 2019.
After a 10-year career playing for the Indianapolis Colts, Thompson has more than 20 years experience in the quick-service and fast-casual segment. He owns and operates several Denny's throughout North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.
"When I was introduced to the Captain D's brand, it was immediately apparent that the company shared my commitment to guest-centric values, and I knew it was the perfect fit," said Thompson in the release.
Captain D's has more than 530 restaurants in 22 states.
