Captain D's expansion means 4 states will see more seafood

Captain D's said it's stomping on the gas pedal to accelerate franchise development for the chain, which is signing agreements to expand in Illinois, Texas, Virginia, North Carolina and Kentucky. A news release said that over the next few years, the company is opening two Illinois locations as well as three locations in Texas, three more in Virginia, and five restaurants in both North Carolina and Kentucky.

The chain said that the growth is indicative of recent years' records of sales after the longtime restaurant chain rebranded and redesigned, beginning last year in earnest.

"The strength of our franchising pipeline will help drive Captain D’s presence nationwide over the next several years and accelerate our momentum even further as we continue to take the brand to new heights," Chief Development Officer Michael Arrowsmith said in a news release.

Captain D's is also diversifying its offerings and expanding its menu, while it continues the massive restaurant redesign of its locations nationwide. To date, the chain has completed renovation on nearly 60 percent of all its restaurants, with another 50 locations to be remodeled by the end of this year.
