Capriotti's Sandwich Shop has signed agreements for expansion into two new markets: San Diego and Denver. The San Diego deal comes on the heels of Capriotti's early 2010 California debut in the Los Angeles area, while expansion into the Denver market marks Capriotti’s first foray into the state of Colorado. Both new deals signify multiunit plans helmed by experienced hospitality veterans with a broad spectrum of experience in the fast casual arena.
San Diego franchisees Mike Mona Jr. and Mike Mona III, a father-son duo, are set to develop 10 restaurants in the southern and central regions of San Diego County. Mona Jr. brings 25 years of experience in construction and project development, as well as success as a multiunit hotel owner and operator.
Denver franchisee Lincoln Spoor plans to open 20 restaurants in the Denver area, specifically in Douglass, Weld, Adams, Denver and Arapahoe counties over a five-year period. Spoor plans to have his first restaurant open by the end of 2010, and all 20 restaurants operational by the end of 2015.
As part of his agreement, Spoor also has the right to seek locations within casinos on the Las Vegas Strip per a mutual agreement with Capriotti’s corporate offices, also located in Las Vegas. Spoor also serves as the Krispy Kreme area developer for Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming.
“We are so pleased to start operations in San Diego and Denver, which are exciting new markets for our company,” said Ashley Morris, CEO, Capriotti's. “We welcome our new franchisees with open arms and look forward to continuing to bring our premium, award-winning sandwiches Capriotti's is known for to people all over the United States.”
