Capriotti's Sandwich Shop, which serves hand-crafted cheesesteaks, turkey subs and more, is opening this weekend in Manhattan at 1711 2nd Ave.
"We're excited to make Capriotti's available to Manhattan residents," said Co-owner Krishna Israni, a medical doctor running the store with his parents, who moved to the U.S. from West Africa 20 years ago. "Whether someone is vegetarian or a meat-lover, there are options for everyone, which is why we love what Capriotti's has to offer. The food is fresh and delicious and we can't wait for everyone to experience it for themselves."
Prior to Krishna Israni attending medical school, the Isranis lived in Las Vegas, where they were first introduced to Capriotti's. Ashok Israni, Krishna's father, has owned several businesses, wanted his son to have the opportunity to pursue an education but promised Krishna they could open a business together.
Ten years later, that's exactly what they did. Although this is their first Capriotti's, they plan to expand in the future, according to a company press release.
Founded in 1976 in Las Vegas, Capriotti's Sandwich Shop has more than 100 locations.
