California Souplantation set to reopen after E. coli scare

Orange County Register: Food samples taken from a Souplantation in Lake Forest, Calif., have tested negative for E. coli, prompting local health authorities to announce Thursday that they may never know what food caused 15 customers to get sick last month.

"We're getting to the point that we will less likely (be able) to find a specific cause," said Howard Sutter, spokesman for the Orange County Health Care Agency.

The agency also re-instated the restaurant's health permit Thursday after the San Diego chain sanitized all food preparation surfaces, had employees screened for the deadly E. coli O157 strain and disposed of all unpackaged food items handled by workers.
