Burgerville apologizes to bicyclist over drive-thru ban
August 16, 2009
Burgerville has announced that it will open its drive-thrus to customers on bicycles, according to a story in the Oregonian newspaper. The move came days after a woman on a bicycle was refused service at the drive-thru at one of the company's restaurants.
The drive-thrus have sensors under the pavement in the drive-thru lane in order to detect metal in cars, but some bicycles don't always trigger the sensors. Burgerville officials are discussing other ways for cyclists to notify staff they're ready to place an order.
