Buffalo Wild Wings offers free wings to football fans

June 19, 2011

In an effort to amplify the voice of NFL fans in the league's ongoing labor disagreement, Buffalo Wild Wings has sent an open letter to the owners and players on their behalf.

Buffalo Wild Wings informed the two parties about the restaurant’s Save Our Season Facebook Petition and has announced that it will celebrate the return of football with a reward for fans who have joined the movement. Buffalo Wild Wings has pledged that if the players and owners compromise on their differences and come to an agreement to return to the field by July 20 – the first day players are scheduled to report to training camp – everyone who signs the “Save Our Season” petition will be awarded six free wings to be redeemed when the return of professional football is celebrated in September.

“We live and breathe all sports and so do our guests,” said Kathy Benning, Buffalo Wild Wings executive VP, marketing and brand development. “We keep hearing from our fans how much they want a football season and we want them to know we’re happy not only to serve as their voice, but also to celebrate the return of football and their passion for the game.”

The “Save Our Season” movement has already compiled more than 16,000 petition signatures. The company’s Fantasy Football Blogger League also was called off the bench back in April to rally its audience of fantasy football players around this cause.

“The professional football season is obviously important to our business,” Benning said. “However, we know that no matter the outcome of these talks, Buffalo Wild Wings will continue to be the gathering spot for all sports viewing. We’re hopeful that both sides of this dispute will come to an agreement and we will see professional football this fall.”
