Buffalo Wild Wings' earnings take off

Minneapolis — Same-store sales at Minneapolis-based Buffalo Wild Wings increased 13.2 percent for company-owned restaurants during the fourth quarter of 2006, while comps at franchised restaurants increased 6.5 percent for the quarter.
For the year, comps at company-owned restaurants increased 10.4 percent, while comps at franchised restaurants increased 6.1 percent.
Revenues for 4Q '06 increased 41 percent to $83.3 million. For the year, revenues increased 33 percent to $278.2 million.
The company's net income saw the biggest jump, up 161 percent to $6.8 million for 4Q '06 from $2.6 million for 4Q '05. For FY '06, net income increased 83 percent to $16.3 million.
Fourth-quarter numbers were boosted by an extra week in the company's 2006 fourth quarter compared to the previous year. The 4Q '06 consisted of 14 weeks, compared to a 13-week fourth quarter the previous year.
Average weekly sales for company-owned restaurants were $38,800 for the fourth quarter, up 14 percent compared to $33,953 for the same quarter last year. Franchised restaurants averaged $46,008 for the quarter, up 8 percent compared with $42,533 in the 2005 fourth quarter.
There were 429 Buffalo Wild Wings restaurants open at the end of 2006, consisting of 139 company-owned stores and 290 franchised stores.
