Bruster’s Real Ice Cream wants to scoop up some new franchisees for outlets in North Carolina’s large and growing Piedmont Triad, so it’s actually having a half-off sale to attract potential takers. According to a news release, Bruster’s is currently offering franchisees in the area 50 percent off its standard franchising fee.
The news release said that Bruster’s CEO Jim Sahene put the plan into affect after news of the sale and closing of the chain’s High Point store to make way for a grocery store triggered nothing short of a public outcry.
"North Carolina is a great area for Bruster’s, and we really would like to come back to High Point, as well as, expand into the other Triad communities," Sahene said.
Currently, Bruster’s has nine of its 200 shops worldwide located in North Carolina, in the cities of Apex, Cornelius, Durham, Indian Trail, Matthews, Monroe, Mooresville, Raleigh and Wilmington. But the chain's leadership and local demand have made the Greensboro/Winston-Salem/High Point DMA a priority, so the chain will lop $15,000 off its franchise fee to qualified franchisees who sign an agreement by Dec. 31 to open at least one shop in that market.
The 50 percent discount offer also extends to military veterans who wish to become owners in the chain. The press release said that there are particularly large numbers of veterans in North Carolina — more than 700,000, according to the Carolina Population Center at UNC-Chapel Hill.
"Whether it's a veteran taking advantage of our military discount or an entrepreneur looking for a new opportunity, this is a great time to join Bruster’s," Sahene said.
Bruster’s is experiencing record sales growth nationally, according to the news release. This has prompted the chain to pursue expansion plans in the U.S. despite some reports that the restaurant industry is entering a slowdown.
