Bruegger's Q4, FY '07 comps, revenue increase
January 24, 2008
BURLINGTON, Vt. —Bruegger's Enterprises Inc. has announced that fourth-quarter revenue for comparable sales grew 4.5 percent at company locations and 3.7 percent systemwide, capping 15 consecutive quarters of comparable restaurant sales growth.
For fiscal year 2007, same-store sales increased 3.1 percent for the company and 2.5 percent for the system. Bruegger's gross sales reached $178 million systemwide in 2007, compared with $164 million systemwide for 2006.
"Many factors contributed to Bruegger's success in 2007," said chief executive officer James J. Greco. "We opened 14 new bakeries and saw a steady climb in our weekend sales. The introduction of our Duos program option allowing guests to pair two menu choices — sandwich, salad or soup for one low price — as well as the new, delicious Signature Soups increased lunch traffic."
Bruegger's also received the 2007 Spirit Award from Nation's Restaurant News and National Restaurant Association.
The company operates 268 bakery-cafés with a total of 159 company-owned units and 109 franchise-owned units. The company will celebrate its 25th anniversary in February.
