Boloco's 20th location is officially open, and is located next to a fire station in Wellesley, Mass. Boloco, which stands for Boston Local Company, serves burritos, bowls, shakes and smoothies inspired by culinary traditions from around the world. Burrito flavors include the Tikka Masala, Memphis BBQ and the Classic Mexican.
"We started out as an urban concept 15 years ago, but over the years we've found, often by having families of our own, that Boloco is a perfect gathering place for kids and parents and neighbors," said John Pepper, Boloco's CEO and co-founder. "Add the students from Wellesley College, Babson, and Mass Bay, and Central Street in Wellesley was a no-brainer. The more than 100 parking spaces in back didn't hurt either. We're psyched to be a part of all of it."
Starting today, Boloco Wellesley will open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner, in the remodeled two-story, 4,000-square-foot restaurant. Among the original building elements, which Boloco always tries to maintain when building restaurants, are the original brick, wood beams and exposed ceiling. The newly restored space also features Boloco's favorite artist, Sean Boyce, including original paintings inspired by Wellesley scenery, an illustrated not-so-serious story of Boloco's 15-year history and even a bathroom homage to all of his paintings living at other Boloco locations.
Guests can also play Boloco (or a friend) in a game of #hashtag - Boloco's version of tic-tac-toe - via their smartphones, and watch the game live on one of the big screen TVs.
The restaurant is a 2-Star Certified Green Restaurant by the Green Restaurant Association, meaning Boloco uses recyclable bowls, cups made from corn, composting, low-flow waterheads and more. Guests have access to free wireless Internet, and receive 10 percent off all orders placed online or through the Boloco mobile app.
